On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Europe, the "2025 No Questions East West International Dialogue Exhibition: From Shanghai to Rome", jointly organized by the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Italy, and the Shanghai Artists Association, with honorary support from the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Italy, the University of Rome, and the Florence Academy of Fine Arts of the Rome Academy of Fine Arts, and supported by the Shanghai Cultural Development Fund project, will be exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Italy from July 14 to September 14, 2025.
This exhibition brings together 47 Chinese and Italian artists to create a contemporary art dialogue that spans regions, cultures, and time and space. The exhibition has three main theme units: "Reflection of Time and Space," "Expansion of Concepts," and "Generation of Scenes." Through diverse media such as painting and sculpture, it explores the intersection and reconstruction of tradition and modernity, individual and society, local experience and global context, presenting the possibility of contemporary art resonating in diversity. For China, "Wuwen Xidong" is a vivid practice of Chinese culture "going global" and an important attempt to intervene in the world narrative system with contemporary artistic language. Not only has it enriched the world's understanding of Chinese art, but it has also further strengthened the global expression ability and spiritual influence of Chinese culture. For Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, "Wuwen Xidong" is not only a platform for art dissemination, but also an experimental field for educational innovation. It marks the transition of Chinese art education from local to
