From October 22nd to 28th, 2025, hosted by Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, the 15th Zhou Chunya Scholarship and 12th Printmaking Student Works Exhibition will be grandly presented at the CAEA Art Museum of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. This exhibition is not only a continuation of past academic trends, but also a new examination and promotion of the vitality and future possibilities of printmaking art in the context of the new era.
The "Zhou Chunya Scholarship" originated from Mr. Zhou Chunya, a renowned artist and alumnus, who had a deep affection for his alma mater and showed concern for the academic performance of students in the printmaking department. Fifteen years ago, Zhou Chunniu provided financial aid in the form of a "scholarship" to students who were supported by Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts at the time to complete their studies; In 2016, Professor Wei Jia, the head of the Printmaking Department, jointly promoted a new direction in translation with "inheritance, innovation, and experimentation" as the core. This transformation marks the sublimation from the support of the local market to the inspiration of artistic ideals. Behind it is the reflection of Mr. Zhou Chunya's own artistic path - during his studies in the Printmaking Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, he learned, accumulated, and explored an artistic path that was different from the mainstream at that time, full of romantic colors and literary traits. The open cultural perspective, familiarity with techniques, and profound understanding of the dissemination of ideas endowed by printmaking continue to nourish his subsequent artistic creations, and also reveal to us how printmaking, as a dynamic medium, connects tradition and modernity, and expands the possibilities of painting's broad boundaries.
