The "Chinese Watermark Woodcut Youth Project," which spans a decade, has quietly entered its fifth year. As we reach the halfway point, we feel both the hardships and the hope that have grown stronger. The hardships stem from the sweat and dedication poured into every step by the project team, while the hope arises from seeing more and more young artists stepping into the realm of watermark woodcut, broadening the future path of Chinese watermark woodcut. Initially envisioned as a rotating curatorial system, inviting ten artists from across the country each year, the project aimed to nurture a hundred future stars of Chinese watermark woodcut ten years later. However, it now appears that this is far from sufficient for the future development of watermark woodcut. Consequently, we have begun to experiment with special exhibitions to broaden the geographical scope of the exhibition horizontally, and attempt to break away from the one-dimensional perspective of selecting artists and works, exploring the contemporary dissemination mode of Chinese cultural spirit represented by watermark woodcut from a broader perspective. The Chinese Watermark Woodcut Youth Project strives to integrate with the development of Chinese regional printmaking, recommending more outstanding artists and works from beyond the usual scope through local art institutions to the exhibition, thereby achieving deep collaboration between Beijing and the local area. The special exhibition, named "Heart Seal," has been launched at the Shanghai Hongqiao Museum of Contemporary Art since 2024, and in 2025, "Heart Seal and Bright Moon - Special Exhibition of Chinese Watermark Woodcut Youth Project" was held in Yichun, Jiangxi.
