If there is Light - Exhibition of Chen Qi's Works "will be held on August 20, 2024 at the Anhui Provincial Art Museum. This exhibition is the largest and most diverse exhibition of works by renowned artist Chen Qi, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in recent years. It covers various forms such as watermark woodcut prints, paper-based ink paintings, paper art installations, sculptures, and new media space installations, showcasing more than 50 representative works
This exhibition specially invites Mr. Fan Di'an, Chairman of the China Artists Association, to serve as the academic host, and Mr. Wu Hongliang, President of the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts, as the curator, to deeply expound on Chen Qi's artistic concepts, academic context, and contemporary values
The large paper sculpture displayed in the central area is the latest installation work created by Chen Qi for this exhibition. The color combination of water green and pink indigo echoes the design of the "mirror kaleidoscope" - when the audience looks at the water green color from the entrance, it is refreshing, but as their gaze wanders, they gradually feel a faint light behind this water green color. With each step, a "peach blossom garden" gradually comes into view, and their mood is "suddenly enlightened" In this exhibition, Chen Qi brought a 42 meter long giant watermark woodcut print "2012 Generation and Diffusion", which constructs a deep sea of philosophical thoughts for the audience. It contains both the Confucian idea of "the passing of time is like this, never giving up day and night" and the Taoist concept of "the good is like water, water conservancy of all things without competition". Chen Qi said, "This exhibition revolves around the themes of 'time' and 'life', which are the ultimate problems that each of us needs to face."
