INTRODUCTION

The exhibition covers nearly 150 works from more than 100 artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations, and other types of works. Through three major exhibition units, relying on the collection of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and invited works, it traces the development process of new Chinese art, using "youth" as a clue to connect the creative spirit of more than half a century, and sorts out the history and future of Chinese art represented by the Central Academy of Fine Arts for the audience. As one of the important exhibition projects of the West Coast Culture and Art Season 2023 Spring/Summer, the exhibition will be open to the public on April 30, 2023 and will continue to be on display until September 3, 2023.

This exhibition focuses on the "youth" era of New China's art. The works cover more than half a century since the founding of the People's Republic of China, including the works of young teachers in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, as well as the sorting and research of excellent works created by outstanding graduates who stayed on campus. These works undoubtedly constitute an indispensable part of the achievements in various stages of art history since the founding of New China. The three units of the exhibition not only continue the collection of classic 20th century works as the main body of the exhibition, but also bring new media art special units and Shanghai special units, exploring the multidimensional meaning of "youth" in the multiple contexts of art history, regionalism, and media diversity.
